As a Farmer

'Jai Kisaan'

Mr. Shaji Kodankandath has a keen interest in agriculture other than his profession. It came from his agricultural background because his parents were into farming. The main source of income of his family was from farming. They used to cultivate coconut trees, banana trees, mango trees, nutmeg trees, areca palm trees and cashew trees. In Kerala, these trees are grown everywhere and are a great source of income. His family also have paddy fields and grow rice in those fields. By seeing his parents’ hard work and dedication, he understood a farmer’s life is not easy and should never be let down. It is something that is admirable for it’s purity and simplicity that takes a lot from an individual’s prosperity.

Mr. Shaji has a four acre land in Pattalamkuzhi, Peechi where he runs a farm growing variety of organic fruits. The farm is taken care with utmost attention and dedication. He used to visit farm with his family and spend good time with them in the farm. He also has a fish farm in Vadanappally where he grows variety of fishes in a pond.

Being a farmer, Mr. Shaji learned that a farmer’s life is greatly bound to the land where they tills and nurtures in order to make a living. The life of a farmer is always connected to the soul of agriculture in the conditions of the society. In his point of view, it is very important to acknowledge farmers as the most important members of the society who do their best so that we have something to eat.
